DISNEY CLASSIC CHRISTMAS
MARY STEENBURGEN ENCOUNTERS A CHRISTMAS ANGEL
AND REDISCOVERS THE MAGIC OF THE SEASON
‘ONE MAGIC CHRISTMAS’
NOVEMBER 26
“One Magic Christmas,” an Encore Presentation of a Hallmark Channel Premiere, airs Sunday, November 26 (7/6c).
The Graingers have been having a rough year. Jack Grainger (Gary Basaraba) has been out of work since June and the radio station that fired him is having the family move out come the first of January. Whatever dreams of a jolly Christmas that the two children, Abbie (Elizabeth Harnois) and Cal (Robbie Magwood), have are being overshadowed by the family's troubling financial situation and their mother Ginny's (Mary Steenburgen) general discontent for the holiday season.
Gideon, a Christmas angel, is assigned to bring cheer to Ginny and in turn make things right for her family. His task is not a small one. Ginny is forced to endure long hours at the supermarket for an unappreciative manager, and is disillusioned with Christmas as a commercialized holiday the family can't afford to enjoy.
Though unemployed, her husband Jack is less glum and imagines special holiday times for the two kids. Jack along with his best friend Eddie (Elias Koteas) even collects money to make sure that the town Christmas tree will light up as it has every year. Jack's optimism reflects back to his father (Arthur Hill), a warm old man who also tries to make Christmas a little more special for his grandchildren.
Ginny is reluctant to have her young daughter Abbie believe in Santa Claus, and is completely against the words "Merry Christmas." Like Scrooge and George Bailey before her, Ginny too has a unique experience to make her appreciate all that she has.
