Academy Award®-winners Luc Jacquet and Yves Darondeau have crafted a special treat for the U.S. television premiere of “March of the Penguins” – a never-before-seen film short subject of the three-year saga to film a love story based on the unique survival habits of Antarctica’s Emperor Penguins. “March of the Penguins,” the 2006 Academy Award®-winner, marches into the hearts of viewers Saturday, November 25 (9/8 c) only on Hallmark Channel. Academy Award®-winner Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”) who narrates “March of the Penguins” has filmed new, exclusive wraparounds for the Hallmark Channel Premiere.
Additionally, in the month leading up to the premiere of “March of the Penguins,” SeaWorld – the world’s best known marine mammal park – is letting viewers and press into a very special sanctuary - North America’s only Emperor Penguin Exhibit. Linda Henry, leading Aviculturist for SeaWorld, San Diego, introduces some of her favorite tuxedoed friends in a filmed vignette which can only be seen by TV viewers at www.hallmarkchannel.com and by media at www.hallmarkchannelpress.com.
SeaWorld's commitment to conservation, research and animal rescue was recently formalized with the creation of the non-profit SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund. SeaWorld, San Diego is the only North American zoological society to breed Emperor Penguins. “March of the Penguins,” the little movie that took home an Academy Award® statuette in 2006 is as elegant and stately as it is humble and humanizing.
“March of the Penguins” is an amazing tale filled with humor, alive with thrills, and is narrated by Academy Award®-winning actor Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”). The movie offers breathtaking photography that captures the transcendent beauty and staggering you-are-there drama of devoted parent penguins who, in the face of the fierce polar winter, take turns guarding their egg and trekking to the ocean in search of food. Predators hunt them, storms lash them. But the safety of their adorable, fuzzy chicks makes it all worthwhile, and the Emperor Penguins stave off another icy Antarctic blast, literally risking their own lives to keep their species going. At the heart of every moment there is love!
