It’s a bustling morning of activity on the small Western frontier ranch of Willie and Missie LaHaye.  Willie, ranch hand Scottie and “Cookie” are preparing for another hard day. Missie has to get the children up, dressed and fed before she heads off to start her new job as Tettsford Junction’s new schoolteacher.  Like most families in these parts, the LaHayes are struggling to make ends meet, but they’re confident they’ll survive, especially after they drive their cattle to market in a few months.   more
