Storyline:                                    Tragedy befalls a young woman when she and her husband travel to the American West in the 1850s and he subsequently dies.  Left alone with no money and no way to return home, she reluctantly agrees to marry a widower who is raising a daughter by himself.  As these two grieving young people weather the hardships of prairie life side by side, their uneasy marriage of convenience ultimately reaps something that neither of them could have predicted.
