SYNOPSIS

Inspired by a real-life historic race, young Will Stoneman’s prospects for the future are bright until catastrophe strikes and an icy river claims his father’s life.  Suddenly, Will and his mother are left to face financial ruin and the end of Will’s dreams of going to college.

A boy suddenly thrust into manhood, Will’s only hope to see his family through this crisis is to enter a grueling sled dog marathon and win the $10,000 grand prize.  In a rigorous competition that could easily defeat strong men, Will sets out in the bitter dead of winter on a 522-mile course that runs from Winnipeg, Canada to St. Pail, Minnesota.  However, nothing in his imagination could prepare him for the perilous trek ahead.  His survival depends on the strength and courage of his faithful team of dogs, led by stalwart, Gus.  As Will endures his journey, his tale is being chronicled by a jaded newspaper reporter, and, as Will approaches the finish line, finds that he has the support of more people than he could have imagined.   

Excited and numb from the arduous journey, Will must find the tenacity to continue against impossible odds and discover a way to keep his dreams, his dogs – and himself – alive.
