John Newton Q & A In “The Christmas Card,” a Hallmark Channel Original Movie airing December 9, John Newton plays a young soldier who instantly takes to a new career in the lumber business. But in real life, Newton admits, he would “never cut it” as a logging man. When he’s not working, the actor lives on a 220-acre spread in the Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains. “It used to be a tree farm,” he says. “But the only trees I’ve cut down in 13 years were the four that were where I had to put my cabin. The rest of it, I’ve preserved without it being timbered.” more
