NEW ORLEANS—Janice Arouh has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Network Distribution & Service for Crown Media Holdings, Inc., owner and operator of Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel, from Senior Vice President.  The announcement was made today by Henry Schleiff, President and Chief Executive Officer, to whom she will report.
    In her new capacity, Arouh will continue to oversee all distribution operations of  Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movie Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel HD, and day-to-day affiliate sales and partnerships with the channels’ affiliates.  Arouh and the ND&S department have over the past year secured renewals with all of Hallmark Channel’s major distributors whose viewers constitute nearly 90% of the channel’s subscribers.  She also supervised the launch of the High Definition version of Hallmark Movie Channel which has grown by over 7 million subscribers since the beginning of 2007.
“This well-deserved recognition not only acknowledges Janice’s extraordinary contributions to the growth of our network, but also reflects our unlimited faith in her ability to continue to lead our organization toward even greater success in the future,” said Schleiff.
 In recognition of her contribution to Hallmark and the industry, she was honored in the 2008 class of Wonder Women as chosen by Multichannel News. 
Prior to joining Hallmark Channel, Arouh was Senior Vice President of Affiliate Marketing at Fox Cable Networks.   There she was part of the original launch team for News Corp.’s entry into basic cable – run by Anne Sweeney – seeking distribution for FX and Fox Movie Channel. 
She began her cable career at Showtime Networks in 1991.
Arouh and her team at Fox Cable Networks won eight CTAM Mark Awards, including five in 2003, and a Promax and BDA Awards in 2003 for excellence in network marketing and launch materials. 
She is a former Treasurer for the WICT Foundation and Inc. Boards, and formerly  served as a Board Member of Southern California CablePositive.   She recently served as a Board Member of the Southern California Cable and Telecommunications Association.  She is also the recipient of the 2005 WICT Lifetime Achievement Award.
Arouh earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in communications at John Carroll University.
