HALLMARK CHANNEL’S QUALITY PROGRAMMING TO BE RECOGNIZED AS THE 2008 CAMIE AWARDS BESTOW HONORS ON TWO FILMS “The Note” and “Love’s Unending Legacy” Recognized for their Uplifting Messages
Hallmark Channel is proud to announce that “The Note” and “Love’s Unending Legacy,” received the 2008 Character And Morality In Entertainment (CAMIE) awards, which was presented Saturday, May 3 at the Wilshire Theatre in Beverly Hills, CA. CAMIE awards, Inc. began when a group of concerned parents created www.moviepicks.org, designed to help families find uplifting and inoffensive entertainment. The CAMIE award and presentation ceremony, designed to formally recognize and honor such projects, began in 2001. Previous CAMIE winners include “Radio,” “Toy Story,” “Remember the Titans,” and Hallmark Channel Originals “The Christmas Card,” “The Reading Room,” “Love Comes Softly,” “Love’s Long Journey” and “Love’s Enduring Promise.” Hallmark Channel films which the CAMIE awards has chosen to honor are representative of the quality that viewers have come to expect from the network. “The Note,” starring Genie Francis and Ted McGinley was the network’s highest-rated Original movie of 2007. It tells the story of Peyton MacGruder, a struggling human interest columnist whose editor warns her to bring her numbers up, or else. Dejected, her only moral support is from her longtime colleague, King Danville. When a horrific plane crash kills all aboard in the waters near her office, Peyton suddenly finds herself in possession of a scrap of paper containing a hastily written but heartfelt message from one of the passengers to his child. Inspired by the power of the words, Peyton pledges to discover the note’s intended recipient and deliver it by Christmas. Taking her readers along for the journey while trying to stay one step ahead of a TV tabloid reporter Peyton sets out across the country in her search, and unexpectedly confronts her own personal demons in the process. “The Note” shows how dramatically life can change in an instant, and how it takes mere moments to make a connection: to reach out to someone you care about, to offer words of reconciliation, to express love or regret or admiration. In “Love’s Unending Legacy,” starring Erin Cottrell and Dale Midkiff, Missie LaHaye and her young son Maddie return home to be near her parents, Clark and Marty Davis, two years after the murder of her sheriff husband. Returning to her work as a schoolteacher, Missie adopts a teenage orphan girl, Belinda, who implores her to rescue seven-year-old Jacob, the girl’s brother, who has been suffering abuse at the hands of his adoptive parents. Aiding Missie in her rescue efforts are Pastor Joe and Sheriff Zach Tyler. Both men are also potential suitors, but Missie’s grief may prevent her from a new chance at happiness. Love’s Unending Legacy is the fifth of an eight-book franchise by Janette Oke who, in her genre, ranks second in popularity only to Laura Ingalls Wilder of Little House on the Prairie fame.
