Gene Hawkins is Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Crown Media Holdings, Inc., owner and operator of Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel.   Hawkins joined the company in 1999 and is responsible for planning, developing, implementing and administering comprehensive human resources functions for the company.  He is based in the Los Angeles office and reports to Henry Schleiff, President and Chief Executive Officer, Crown Media.

    As the top human resources professional for Crown Media, Hawkins addresses the short and long term objectives of the company and subsequently develops major policies and operating procedures to support them.  Additionally, Hawkins leads the strategic development and overall communication of company policies and compliance.

    Hawkins is a seasoned human resources professional, previously holding several positions within MediaOne.  Most recently, he was Director of Strategic Human Resource Initiatives, where he was responsible for planning and executing the human resources integration plans for multiple MediaOne acquisitions in the Northeast Region.  Previously, Hawkins was Director of International Human Resources for MediaOne.  In this position, he was the primary human resources business partner for the company’s Asia Pacific joint ventures and European cable business.

    Prior to MediaOne, Hawkins held human resources positions with US West Financial Services, Inc., the Star Tribune newspaper in Minneapolis and Abott Northwestern Hospital, Inc., also in Minnesota.

    Hawkins received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa.
